Founded in 2007, PULSE is staffed by volunteers and mainly funded by its founders. PULSE is recognized by the Alabama Department of Public Health and other local and national organizations for its work in HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness.
PULSE's mission is to:
- Support and assist individuals in maintaining a high quality of life through assistance, advocacy, and education.
- Promote safer practices through education and prevention activities within local and regional communities.
- Dispel the myths and stereotypes as well as educate on sexual health and awareness.
- Network with organizations in the communities they serve.
Our vision is to equip community gatekeepers with the information and resources that will help to promote health and general well-being in their communities. Through workshops and seminars, we also equip the general public with information on health disparities and its effects.
